Thriller Movie Poster Analysis

Thriller Movie Poster Analysis

After looking at multiple thriller movie posters, it was clear to see that they are not very original, and they all tend to stick to the same theme. For instance, if the film is about a lone hero, the poster  has to have a dramatic background. A hidden weapon is optional.

Like wise, if the movie is very action packed, and features prominent explosions, then the poster is usually black and white, with a burst of colour (usually orange).

From this research we are able to tell that there is not a huge amount of diversion in the thriller genre. That is why, for our final product, we chose to do a very unorthodox thriller storyline that would stand out in a "line up" as such.

Our Film Characters

Our Film Characters

Our main character is played by Alfie Wyand-Brooks.

This character was dressed in formal clothing including suit trousers, shirt, tie and a formal jacket which consequently created the average man vibe about this character. We was aiming for our character to be recognizable as an average man and therefore appealing to our dominantly male audience which we have due to the thriller genre of our film. The dark black that he is wearing carries connotations of  unimaginative which links in to the character having a routine job whereas his white shirt has connotations of safety which we have selected for the ironic factors as we all know that the thriller.

Our second character is the Villain in our film and we dressed him in all black to demonstrate his dark personality.

Music for our Film

Music for our Film

The Highlighted Tracks
Our final idea for our music was a soundtrack with a chilling sound to create a spooky atmosphere for Paranoia (Our Film). We spent many an hour looking for music soundtracks and effects to suit the dark, tense atmosphere of our film. We configured a list of soundtracks that would be effective but we chose to not go with:

The website we looked at for clips/soundtracks was AudioNetwork which has a vast selection of sound effects. We found this website most helpful as you can filter through the type of sound effects to create the atmosphere and mood you want.

After looking through all of these tracks we ended up choosing to use a track that had the most mysterious, dark and lowest tone in order to match it up with our films atmosphere which was generated by the timing/date chosen to film.

We chose to use the sound effect of a sharp, dramatic and distinct screechy sound when the camera pans up to the villain in order to create a tense vibe and scarce feel around the character which leaves a cliffhanger effect for the rest of the film due to the way in which the sound and picture breaks off before you see the villains face.
